    PROFILE

    Owner Chef

    Yugo Suzuki

Born in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. After graduating from Tsuji Culinary Institute, he worked at restaurants in Osaka and Kyoto. He moved to Italy at the age of 25 and worked as a trainee for various restaurants, from a local restaurant to a Michelin-starred restaurant for four years. After returning to Japan, he was appointed as chief chef at the Italian government-approved restaurant "La Bisboccia" in Tokyo. He also supervised the Manga "Bambino," which features Italian cuisine. In May 2011, he opened his first restaurant, "Cucinetta Yughino," in Rokku-cho, Okazaki, to serve dishes for the people where he was born. In May 2019, the restaurant was relocated and opened as Ristorante Yughino Yugo.

    Magistrate's Estate

Our restaurant is located in the samurai residences of the Motojuku magistrate's estate (daikan yashiki), which has recently been brought back to life thanks to a restoration project. You can learn various exciting stories about the estate at the local history exhibition room, which houses valuable documents and artifacts. We hope you enjoy the long and distinguished history, art, and culture along with our food.

    Farm to Table

In order to make the most of seasonal flavours, the majority of the ingredients used at Yughino Yugo are sourced from local farmers. The chef, who loves his hometown, cares about not only using locally produced meats and vegetables, but also about building and maintaining good relations with the local farmers as well. He enjoys coming up with dishes from their rare ingredients, and they expect him to create the unexpected from their produce.

    Design and Architecture

The bar counter design that you can see as soon as you enter the restaurant won the 2019 Nagoya Mosaic Industrial Design Award. We hope you enjoy the cuisine as well as the atmosphere, which is a mixture of historical architecture and beautiful mosaic design.
